"El secreto de sus ojos" won the Goya for Best Hispano-American film


The film "El secreto de sus ojos" (The secret of her eyes) directed by Juan José Campanella and starring Ricardo Darín yesterday won the Goya Award for Best Hispano-American film, while actress- singer Soledad Villamil, also starring, was awarded the Best New Coming Actress award.

Campanella's film, which won two of its nine nominations at this XXIVth edition of Spain's Academy of Arts and Cinematographic Sciences, is now in an enviable position for Hollywood, where it hopes to win the Oscar for Best Foreign Film.

Argentine films are among the most awarded at the Goya in the Best Hispano American Film category in the 20-year history of these awards, the prize has gone 15 times to an Argentine film: in 2008 "XXY" was the winner, in the previous year it had been “Las manos" and in 2006 it was "Iluminados por el fuego"
